We've used this Revolectrix CellPro PowerLab 8 device successfully to charge and discharge individual cells quite automatically.

Originally designed for the radio controlled helicopter hobby, this device is up to 1344 watts and so offers some pretty interesting utility in charging, discharging, and bottom balancing individual cells, even fairly large ones.

Used in conjunction with a 12v battery source, the part we like best is its ability to discharge cells at rates up to 30 amperes recovering the energy INTO the 12volt battery.

You can also use the 12v battery to charge and we routinely do this at 20 amperes.

The 1344 watt capacity allows charging up to 40 amps but the battery jack connections probably do not. This is often used with a different connector to charge up to 8 LITTLE batteries in parallel. We simply don't use it that way and would urge you to limit charging to 20 amps through the supplied banana jacks.

The included USB interface and the downloadable software allow you to change charge/discharge profiles and make modifications to the parameters in this device.

It ALSO allows you to easily graph the charge and discharge curves of a cell and find it's total capacity. And you can set it up to do a complete cycle of charge and discharge to any voltage levels you choose. It displays voltage, current, amp hours, etc on either your PC or on the backlit LED display.

A painless way to automate you battery needs

This is a painless way of automating your charging and discharging of LiFo battery's, Originally intended for the R/C car market this has proven to be a robust piece of equipment and able to handle the biggest battery's.
